I love animation so much - am in awe of those who do it tbh. One of the new film ideas I’m very very tentatively brewing would involve animation which will be so exciting if I can make it happen. Icy tentacles away with you! 😄

I so appreciate your money conversations. Substack seems to be a great place for hosting them too especially with the comments as well as your original piece 😊

Thanks for the shout out Vicki!

Yes, do get yourself a Brenda, you’ll never look back. 😉👏

A good friend of mine who runs a theatre company had her version of a Brenda when we were not long out of uni - Sally if if remember rightly. Dunno why I didn’t think of it before! Though even Brenda might not be a match for the Kafkaesque bureaucracy of university admin departments!🤦‍♀️😄

So after you’ve said you are going to charge them Statutory interest, do you send them an additional invoice for it, and then continue on every week invoicing for the extra weeks until it paid? That’s what I used to do.

I’ve been waiting till the original invoice is paid then sending a follow up with the interest and late fee. But maybe your way is better. Regular reminders of the interest getting bigger week on week. It’s tricky cos the contact I have at these institutions never actually has any power to make the payment. Those who do seem singularly unbothered 🤯

Oh yes, definitely send the interest invoice before the other one is paid, or say you will send it if the invoice isn’t paid by the end of the week. Then they can pay it earlier to avoid the extra charge. And if it remains unpaid, then send them every week until it is. Brenda is always happy to send them out promptly. 😉 It’s not so bad being paid late if you’re getting paid extra to wait, and you’ll be surprised how often just the threat of an additional invoice will get the first one paid promptly. Good luck! 🤞

Yes I can see how Brenda wouldn’t have any qualms about sending regular invoices. I’ll let you know how I get on!
