Thank you for sharing my post. Your trip back to your old college sounds really inspiring and fruitful. I'm also glad you're having productive appointments for your son's diagnosis. And I hope you enjoy the sun that has finally properly come out here today!
It makes *such* a difference having a bit of sunshine doesn't it. That anticyclonic gloom was really starting to get old. I'm going up to Waterhall on the edge of the Downs today to watch my son in a schools cross country competition. I hadn't even heard of it till the letter came home but it sounds amazing with a rewilding project. We're so lucky to have these wonderful nature reserves in Brighton - and even better to see it under crisp blue skies eh ☀️
I'm so glad the sun is still out! Oh yes, I hope you enjoyed Waterhall, I've been a few times since it was turned back to nature and it's lovely to see it evolving. I think the old club house is a great location for running events too so that's on my list for when I get to that point with my business.
Really enjoyed reading this Vicki and your mentioning 'bops' at Murray Edwards suddenly made me realize that I MUST have been to music/band events there back in the 1980s when it was New Hall. And I have a feeling that Sonita Alleyne, Master of Jesus College, was a singer in one of the bands I saw then (if I ever meet her, I'll have to ask...) Dorothy Byrne has been great for Murray Edwards, I think, glad you have that history together & so pleased to hear your event went well. Your nostalgic walk sounded, and looked, lovely. Hope to see you next time!
Wow that's a fun little tidbit about Sonita Alleyne! Bet there are some wonderful stories like that of youthful abandon tucked away in the past lives of the 'great and the good' of Cambridge - I love the idea of an inner rock chick under the gown 😁 Even though it was a very short trip back I definitely feel I packed a lot in this time. But next time, let's definitely try and get that coffee. x
Yes, let's! And I admire so much what Alleyne has achieved in her groundbreaking work, and, like Byrne, in challenging many of the stuffier Cambridge traditions on behalf of others. Not just rock n' roll...
Thanks for being open and honest about the things you deal with. 🫶🏻
Aw thanks Shawna - I'm glad you're enjoying reading my little musings!😊

Definitely. It was so refreshing hearing Dorothy regaling us with her stories of shaking certain things up. I'm absolutely here for it.
