Great new series! I, too, knew little about the nuclear industry before joining Mothers for Peace (mothersforpeace.org) and every step of my education since has been a horrible eye opener. That there is so much secrecy should be a huge red flag. Thank you and Min and all the activists, artists and academics who work to blow the covers off of this despicable technology.

There's SO much to learn about and understand - very much a case of the more you know, the more you realise you don't know! Looking forward to shedding some pockets of light where I can. Stay tuned!

Great start to the series! I also knew nothing of the impact on Korea although should’ve realised there’d be some given their neighbours with an entwined history. I do know Kate Bush’s Breathing. I have the album. The impact of mining seems to be something people forget - big issue here in Australia where the Liberal party is back on its nuclear power obsession…

I know, as soon as you think about it, it's obvious that there would be an impact on Koreans but it's not something I'd ever heard anywhere else before. I must confess I've not been keeping up with what's going on nuclear-wise in Oz. Must gen up again... I know one of the artists I've been talking to is doing some work there, but related to the British weapons tests I think. She's got my questions so hopefully will be able to feature her before too long. Should see if I can reach out to some other contacts Down Under too - am very keen to keep a broad lens and that definitely includes geographically. Glad you liked the first instalment 😃

Yes, A great start to a promising series.

My own thoughts on ending nuclear weapons -

It is going to take the most massive cultural change:

So much is bound up with the nuclear industry - and not just political beliefs, fears, and national pride, and the power of the men at the top.

So many millions of jobs connected, and thousands of local economies.

And all involved with the need to live more simply, change from the growth economy - so many, many people would have to give up something, and so many many people unwilling to help them

Yep, I do fear that now the atomic weapons horse is out the gate there's simply no going back. I watched a great little play earlier this year about the negotiators negotiating the UN Treaty for the Prohibition on Nuclear Weapons and that really humanised a lot of the competing imperatives for me. But massive social change has and can happen so I do *try* to stay optimistic. But you're right about all the complex interacting social and political forces - it's a lot of what I tried to get at in my own film, albeit that was looking at the civilian power-generating side. There is a LOT to disentangle for sure...
