This is such a viciously incisive film. It's not a surprise that those coming after Greenfield totally misinterpreted the meaning of the movie overall. I wanted to see "Generation Wealth", Greenfield's doc about wealthy millennial kids -- someone should give Greenfield a shot on the IP Train and let her do a savagely-mean "Richie Rich".

Absolutely agree. Reading interviews with Greenfield, she came in to making this film (and Generation Wealth too I think - I defo want to see that one as well) via photography rather than through a TV or even a broader film industry route. I wonder if that freed her up from the temptation/requirement to impose the big primary colour moralising tropes that TV commissioners would certainly have wanted her to employ (very much speaking from experience here!) I don't know why the BBC have chosen to re-run it now, but I was very glad to watch it again. Think I'll be giving the reality reboot a pass though..!

I almost forgot about the Queen of Versailles recommendation I must watch it - I’ll download it now! I can’t believe it’s been turned into a musical, that’s WILD! The world we live in!

I know, right! I kinda would like to see it too - the set must be immense 🤣 Enjoy the doc - and let me know what you think when you've watched it!

I will, hopefully I'll get to it this weekend if there isn't too much sport competing for TV viewing

My pleasure - and yeah it really is a fascinating watch. We're drowning in content so I know no-one really needs more things to go on their watch or read lists - but I do love a recommendation and it's feeling fun to share mine too here. Think I may do an autism doc next as that's very much top of my mind at the moment. Have got a couple on my A-Z list but I watched both of them before it was something I had direct personal experience of so will be interesting to see how they land on a rewatch now...
